Marcello De Francesco


Born in Foggia, he graduated in violin under the guidance of M ° Dino De Palma at the Conservatory “Umberto Giordano” in Foggia and subsequently completed with Ilya Grubert, Ettore Pellegrino, Djordje Trkulja and Giovanni Zonno. Graduated later in Music Therapy, Music Education, Musical Disciplines – violin interpretation and Electronic Music, he began his violin career by collaborating with several orchestral formations, including solo and Concertmaster roles and working with internationally renowned soloists and directors, including Uto Ughi, Massimo Quarta, Enrico Dindo, Luis Bacalov, Katia Ricciarelli, and directors including Corrado Rovaris, Donato Renzetti, Marco Zuccarini, Renato Serio, Renato Chiaravalle, Alterisio Paoletti and Vince Tempera.

In addition to the numerous TV shows premiered on the Rai, Mediaset and several tours in Finland, Malta, the United States and Canada, he has also collaborated and performed concerts with many pop music artists, including Valerio Zelli of “O.R.O.” Eugenio Bennato, Antonella Ruggiero, Amii Stewart, Vittorio De Scalzi of “New Trolls”, Renato Zero, Dody Battaglia of the “Pooh”, Luca Giacomelli Ferrarini and the songwriter of Puglia Caparezza, for whom he recorded the latest album in 2017 as the Concertmaster of the orchestra. This Album is the first in the Italian Hit Parade in October of 2017.

He was the creator of the “Italian Dream” show, in 2013 he represented his show with the Orchestra “Suoni del Sud” and Valerio Zelli of O.R.O. at various theaters and festivals in Italy and Canada at the Avalom Ballroom Theater in Niagara Falls, with the extraordinary participation of Fabrizio Frizzi and Enzo Pupo.

Having been in Jazz for several years, following a selection, he participated in the courses organized by Boston Berklee College Music for the Umbria Jazz 2015 Festival in Perugia, in 2016 he studied with Didier Lockwood at CMDL in Paris and began collaborating with Californian violinist Jeremy Cohen, who plays him as a solo duo and as guest of his “Quartet San Francisco”, which boasts 7 nominations for the Grammy Awards. She works in concert with pianist and arranger Vince Tempera and with actress Virginia Barrett in Germany at the “Tübingen Jazz & Klassik Tage 2015 festival”. In 2017, with the string quartet he founded, the Alkemia Quartet collaborated as the first violin on “Sincretico”, the CD of Puglia Accordionist Vince Abbracciante and recorded the CD “Sollima 4 Srings” containing the full set of works written by Giovanni Sollima for string quartet and the unreleased “Africa” ​​for quintet, edited by the Dynamic record company in Genova and distributed by Naxos.

He is currently Professor of Violin at the Music High School “C. Poerio” in Foggia.
